Clifford's Easter

My grandson loves Clifford, The Big Red Dog.  We don't have a cartridge with his beloved Clifford on it, so I tried to create on myself.  I added a tail from another animal and welded it on to make the tail longer.  I took ears from another animal and attached them to the ears on the dog to make them longer too.  I also grabbed ? eyes from another animal and also enlarged the nose to be bigger like Clifford's.  For some reason the cart didn't outline all of the dog despite it being in red for preview. And of course I added bunny ears for Easter!  I think this is pretty good for a first poke at it!  I'm sure he will enjoy it.  He's just a little guy and he won't care it's not perfect.

Bunny Car

Okay, perhaps I have twisted sense of humor!  My nephew loves Cars.  I wanted to do a Car theme Easter card and here is what I came up with.  It's twisted, but I think it is cute!  Those fabu "racing stripes" on the edges are  roll-on rub ons!  How fun is that?

Another cart used in my quest to use them all!

Two more cards to make, a zillion cupcakes to do and plenty of prep work due for tomorrow's lunch.  I think I may have to have a panic attack!  lol!

Manly Boys

Ever buy a Cricut cartridge really wanting one image?  Wrap It Up! was like that for me.  I really like some of the images, but this car was the reason I bought it.  When I saw this little piece of Graph 45 paper in my sister's stash, I knew I wanted to make something for my dh with it.  Their paper is so unique from the other papers that are out there!  I was going to make an Easter card, but this kind of took on a life of its own!  I like how it turned out, but I'm not sure Easter is the time to give it to him!  Hmmm, I may have to start all over for Easter and there's not much time left!

The crown, smoke, flower, leaves and mat were all made with cake basics.  I just went through my list to see which carts I have not used and picked it to work with!  Sometimes it works out really well when you do that!  The tag and the label on  the bottom are SU! punches.  It was late at night when I finished designing this card and didn't feel much like looking on another cart for these.  When I went to find some embellishments and found these brads in my stash, I felt like I struck gold!  They work really well and started the copper theme. I purchased the cute little coin at a dollar store.  I used Walnut Distress Ink to stamp and to distress the edges.  A couple of scraps of paper and voila!  It was done.

I really need to work on my photography.  The richness of this card is lost with my lack of skills.

I used two more carts in my quest to use them all!  Only problem is... I just got six new ones!  lol!

Happy Birthday

I made this for the Cricut 5th Anniversary E2 contest.  I know there will be a lot of amazing entries!  I'm not sure if mine will make it there in time.  If the courier doesn't think it will make it in time I'll keep it and use it for myself.  I think it's pretty cute!  The letters have bronze glitter on them.  The top monkey has fluff on his little tummy.  There is not one "embellishment" on here, only paper!

Easter Card

Here is a card I made today for Easter.  After being ill for over a week post surgery, it is good to feel well enough to do some crafting!

All of the cuts are from Easter 2010.  The large egg is glittered. The layer under it is Cuttle Bugged.  Textured paper is Bazzill, smooth is Stampin Up!

Robot Cake

Here is my very first cake using:  the Cricut Cake, Fondant and Modelling Chocolate!

After the video this past week on the Cricut Cake, and all of the fabulous tips I learned from the video and the awesome girls taking the course, I had to try my hand at it.  I discovered that I love working with the modelling chocolate, fondant - not so much.  I found the fondant tore really easily when I went to put it on the cake.  I have no idea why it was such a pain in the keister, but wowzers was it!  It was okay to have it not perfect for this cake as I wanted him to look a little old and rusty, but on a "pretty" cake it would really frustrate me!  I added some grey sugar to make him look a little rustier.  All in all it was a big first attempt, but I love my grand son beyond belief and was more than willing to try.  He loved the modelling chocolate!  He grabbed an arm and chomped it up like no-one's business!  He then went for the second one, but we had to make sure he was allowed so that if he got a sugar high we would not be hunted down for being naughty grand parents!  lol!

Lesson learned:  Trying too many new things all at once is very overwhelming!

I am open to tips that you have in working with cakes and fondant.   I would love a really good, moist cake recipe to use that works well with fondant.

I think he goes pretty well with the card and stand up robot I made!
