Pack Your Bags!

Well, for me it's just wishful thinking, but for my buddy at work, she is headed to warmer weather!  I have to say, I have a bit of envy.  Each year when almost everyone around me at work goes to some place warm and I do not, I feel a little green.   I enjoyed making this card thinking about what a fun time she will have.  Lucky girl! I might not be able to "get away", but with my little Cricut and all of its wonderful carts, I can have my own little "get away"!

I used Pack Your Bags for the girl (my friend is a hot chick!).  The Umbrella is from Life is a Beach and the sun is from Simply Charmed - he is too fun with those sunglasses!

More Boxes

I made these boxes for my grand kids.  I don't like wrapping gifts, so when I saw the idea of doing "wrapping" with my Cricut, I had to do it.  These took way more time than conventional wrapping, but they were fun to do!

This one is my my granddaughter who loves princesses and loves it when I make her one, so  I used Once Upon a Princess, Joys of the Season and Gypsy Wanderings.

I made this one for my grandson.  He loves Sponge Bob!  When I bought the cartridge, my husband said he could not understand why I had bought it.  I responded, "Because it was on sale!!!"  Now, I have a grandson so it is perfect!  I also used Joys of the Season and Winter Frolic.  I added "snow" to the hat and pop dots to the presents for added dimension.  I think it turned out stinking cute!

ETA:  Sponge Bob was picked up as the "Project of the Day" on the Cricut Circle Blog!!!

Jada's Christmas Gift

I detest, hate, loathe, despise wrapping gifts!  I usually try to convince my awesome husband to do it for me.  He, unlike me, likes to wrap gifts!  This has been a problem for me since I was a child and was insulted.  I am grown up now, but the feeling associated with wrapping gifts has never gone away.  I saw on the Cricut Circle the challenge to do gift wrapping.  I didn't do this soon enough to enter, but I really liked the idea of doing "wrapping" gifts with my Cricut.  How fun!

I bought these plain white boxes at the dollar store 3/$1!  I used the Rock Princess for the girl and Hoot-n-Holler for the hat.  I think she turned out pretty darn cute!  My daughter has seen it under the tree and loves it!  I hope to have enough time to do one for each of my grand kids too!

I used a couple more of my carts!  Love it!

Oh {Cookie} Christmas Tree!

We got a real tree this year.  It is so full and beautiful!  We made popcorn garland and cookie ornaments.  We also have candy canes and tinsel.  Mostly, the tree is edible!  Yummy!

My daughter and I made the cookies on the Cricut cake machine using the Gingerbread cart.   It was great bonding time.  My daughter decorated them all.  This cart was great as it gave my young daughter a spring board on how to decorate them.  I think she did a great job!

We had to go buy a star as our angel was too fancy.  It's not on the tree here.

Feeling Blue?

I made card for a colleague that is just not feeling up-to-snuff.  The inside has a lot of cuts of different animals to represent "the gang", but I forgot to take a picture of that.  Oh well, the recipient really liked it!

SnowFlakes Border

I made these snowflakes from several carts:  Gypsy Wanderings, Joys of the Season, Designer Calendar and something else.  Sorry, I didn't save the file, so I can't recall the other one(s).   I then had the kids apply glue and glitter.  IRL the snow flakes sparkle brilliantly.  The picture does not sparkle.   I had the kids use the Martha Stewart glow-in-the-dark glitter.  They had so much fun running into the dark bathroom so they could see them.  They are eager to come at night to see it "lit up"!   The snowflakes  are not perfect, but that adds to the charm.  The kids love to decorate my calendar holder.  They always come to see if the latest creation that they made is up there!  Goodness knows I can't even take a picture off of the fridge for months!  lol!

O Christmas Tree

I could hardly wait today for the Gypsy to be done syncing!  It took a couple of hours to get it up to date!  I didn't think I was that far behind, but I guess I was.  I updated it just so I could cut out this adorable beaver from Go Canada!  There are some super cute images on this cart.

The tree is from the Cricut Circle exclusive cart: Sophie.  Sophie has a lot of wonderful images to cut out.  I have been enjoying this cart a lot!  The stamp is from CTMH and the punch is from SU!

My photography still still have not improved!  lol!

Celebrate

I am finally starting to get some scrapbooking done here and there.  I found this picture in my craft room and decided to get it done.  I started with this wonderful piece of paper and the design just took on a life of its own.  I matted the picture with a cut from Elegant Edges and then a small doily.  I then reached for my Pagoda cart as I knew there was a nice blossom on there that matched my paper.  Wow, did it ever!  I was tickled pink!  I then added some more flowers from my Prima stash.   It just needed that extra kick.  I then added some stickers and brads.  Yep, that was better, but still not enough.  I added a layer of ribbon to the bottom, and then another, and attached them with the Tim Holtz mini staples.  Well, now the top of the page needed something.  So, I grabbed my MS Elegant cake cart and made the top border.   I then needed to anchor it, so I added a ribbon there as well.  Ah, much better!  I added the "Celebrate" bling and it felt complete.  Wow, am I slow at scrapbooking but I love the results!

Run for the Border!

I made this Thank you card for my sister.  She made me a very lovely mini album.  I liked the Tim Holtz distressed sticker with these two girls on it and chose it for my beginning.  Since I know my sister likes mini envelopes, I made one from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More.  Yep, she loved it and immediately asked which cart I made it from!  lol!  I also wanted to put a border on it so I could use it for the Cricut Weekly Challenge.  The border and "Thanks!" is from Martha Stewart Elegant Cakes.  The flower is made from Flower Shoppe cart.  I made the card antique looking because that is what we are!  lol!

I made these bird cages for a swap that I am in.  I used A Child's Year, French Manor and Kate's ABCs for the images.

Matching Game

I recently had my grand kids over.  My daughter and grand daughter were playing a game together.  The little guy got frustrated as he wanted to play too.  My husband started to play a game with him, but he wanted to play a game with me.  So, I quickly zipped this game off for him.  It needed to be something simple as he is only 3 years old.  It only took 10- 15 minutes to make.   I love how easy it is to come up with something with the Cricut!

I picked out the images.  I used the Cricut markers to draw everything first.  I then went back and cut out the cards.  Using the Gypsy I had one page with the cards and images and the second only with the cards.  I didn't want the cards to be dimensional as they were to be his own special cards!

I then colored them very simply with Copic Markers.  Any markers or crayons would work.
I then cut out the card backs out of design paper.  He's not old enough to remember which designs go with which picture!  If you make them for older children, this is a thing to remember.  You would also want more cards than I made.

His big sister thought it looked like fun and quit playing the other game to come and play.  Then my daughter wanted to play, but it was too simple.  So, I took the cards and hid them all over the room.  They had to look at a card, leave it where it was and then go and find its match.  Only then could they have the pair.  They really enjoyed that!

Dog Parade

My daughter is in a dog parade tomorrow to raise funds for the local Animal Protection Society.  Here is the layout that I will be using for the pictures.  I'll spruce it up a bit when the pictures are done.  I think it needs a little tweaking still.  I'll update the photo when it is done.  I used several carts for this one including my brand new Elegant Edges!

Fly A Kite

Made another quick card for the Blogiversary.  This one was made from Best Friends.  I used the cuttlebug on both of the green and brown layers.  I am having fun with my Imagine.  It's so nice to have it working!!!

My Cup of Tea!

This card is truly my cup of tea!  It only took moments to make it.  My replacement Imagine came and it works really well so far!  It really is a great machine!  I'm really enjoying playing with it!  This card was made with Kate's Kitchen for the images and Ancestry for the background paper.  It is popped up and glittered, which you can not see here.  I have to say, I am really feeling guilty about how quickly these cards are coming together!  BUT!!! It's so much fun!!!  Kate's Kitchen is such a cute cart!

More Blogiversary Entries!

I made these two cards for the Cricut Circle Blogiversary.  The winners are selected by random, but my feeling is if you don't enter, you can't win!  I found these cards so easy to make I felt like I was cheating!  I used Sophie for the snowflakes and the snowflake card.  I used Accent Essentials for the circles and the label.  I just used my Gypsy to stretch it and flatten it out.  What a great tool!  The white card had been sent through the Cuttlebug to add texture.  The snowman is from "Magical" from CTMH.  I added glitter for a little pizazz, a bit of bling and voila! they were done!  I have to admit, I have never used a card feature on a cart before!  Oh my gosh, who knew how easy that made it to make a card?!  lol!

If you see the bottom card in more than one place in the contests its because I got lost and couldn't remember what I was doing!  Ugh!  I was struggling to get my photos up and I ended up putting the bottom one in two places by mistake!  Did you know that once you post an image you can't take it back?  Well, I tried, but no such luck!  Then to top it all off, I put the monochromatic snowman  and the blue card in the wrong places!  lol!  Ever have one of those days?

Welcome Back to the Patch!

I made this card for my mother-in-law.  She has been away for weeks caring for her brother and his wife.  She is getting home sick and hopes to be back by the end of the month.  There are 3 pumpkings of different sizes to represent the three of us.   She knows Halloween is my favorite holiday.  I love the bright colors!

It is also for the Cricut Circle Blogiversary.

I was surprised when I realized that I used so many carts to make this!  I used Sophie for the purple mat, October 31 for the web, Hello Kitty Greetings for the spider, Pumpkin Carving and Doodlecharms for the pumpkins.  I cut and then used a glitter pen to outline the web and the mat.  It looks pretty cool IRL in that it adds more dimension and interest.  I used my Cuttlebug to add the texture to the pumpkins and then added some ink to the raised portion to give them even more detail. The pumpkin in the front is pop-dotted to raise it up, but you can not tell that here.

Many more carts used in my mission to use them all!

Halloween Cricut Cut Swap

I made these spooky chicks using Mini Monsters for the Canadian Cricut Circle Halloween swap.  You can find it here:  Halloween Cricut Cut Swap

This witch reminds me of those old spooky shows of a zillion years ago where the hair was sprayed up like that in black with a white stripe.

I noticed after I took the picture that the little kitty on the end lost his eyeball.  Not to fear!  Glue is here!  Ha ha ha!  He is repaired and all is well.

Which one is which?

I was looking at Flower Shoppe the other day and then proceeded to make a card.  I wanted to do a different card later, and guess what?   I could not remember which flower was which!  So, to make my life easier, I made one of each of the flowers so I had a quick reference to go to.  To me, they all look pretty similar in the little icons.

If you cut them on your Gypsy at 3.4 inches you can get 9 on one sheet.  Then there is only one left to cut out.   For a sample size I would not make them much smaller than this!   I then rolled them and placed them on this sheet of acetate.  It still has its wrap on it, that is why it is opaque.  I also decided to cut the other flowers and leaves and put them on there.  The "scalloped" circle one still has me a little perplexed.  I suppose we are to layer it in descending sizes.  I'm not quite sure still.  I have seen this type of shape used to make string flowers.  I wonder if either of these ideas are what the designer had in mind.  I have not cut the other flowers out yet.  Another project will have to come when time is not so sparse!

I really like this cart a lot.  It is more versatile than the regular cuttlebug quilling flowers that I have.  You can make them as big or small as you like.  You can also add the quilling flowers into the center of other flowers.

One thing I love to do is to take the ugliest papers I have and turn them into fabulous flowers.  I am not sure why, but I have found this to be a pattern!  Sorry, about the pun, it really wasn't intended!  My prettiest papers are not as good for making flowers.   The pink flowers below are done with gorgeous paper, yet they only turned out okay.   The incomplete white ones are done with less than gorgeous paper, but they would look far superior than the pink ones if they were done.  They were only done so I could tell what the shape of the leaves was like.  I do look forward to making them complete and seeing what they look like "full"!

This cart is definitely worth every penny you may spend on it if you like flowers as much as I do!

Bouncy Boy!

I had this picture of Tigger hanging out in my house.  My grand son loves Tigger and my daughter figured she would like the picture.  I couldn't send it to him plain!  I used Pooh Font (of course!) for the wording and Flower Shoppe for the flowers.  (#6 flower)  The trim on the top and the bottom is the inner portion of the flowers.  The bottom was fixed when I saw the picture and noticed a piece was not tucked in properly.

Dominoes!

This is my first time altering dominoes.  It was a lot of fun.  These were made for a swap that I am in.  It is supposed to be a vintage Christmas ornament theme.  I'm not quite sure if I hit the mark or not, but I do like how they turned out.  The deer is on the front and the tree is on the back of the dominoes.  I wasn't sure if I was to do both sides or not, so I did, just in case!

I cut the tree out from Winter Woodland.  I figured since it was a Cricut message board swap that I should try to use a Cricut cut!  I really enjoyed putting on the alcohol inks and blending them.  Awesome how fun that is!  I used a Tim Holtz script stamp with Archival Ink.  The word Christmas was a stamp I stamped onto white paper and then dipped in alcohol ink.

I did not enjoy trying to get a jump ring through the domino though!  Wow was that tough!  I am open to learn how to do that better!  I added some bling and charms.   I used glossy accents to seal it all.

So, what do you think?

2 Year Anniversary

A friend at work and I share the same anniversary date of October 4th.  We also share the same office.  We have been working in the same profession for a long time, but came together a couple of years ago to this new office/job.  We figured we should celebrate.  Since it will be close to Halloween and it is in fall, I chose these colors.  I will change out the Anniversary piece and do another piece like the top portion that says, "Halloween" after our anniversary.  We are sure the others at our office will think we have gone nuts, but hey, I think they do already!  We will bring snacks and maybe some refreshments that day as well.

Sorry about the photo.  I am aware the colors don't look great against my table, but I don't really have some place that would work better yet.

The letters are for our names.  We have distinctively different personalities so there are two different kinds of monsters.  I'm sure she is gonna laugh when she sees it.  She is the gabby one, so she gets the one that looks like it is doing so.  Maybe a little risque!  on my part.  She may want to "love tap" me on the back of the head for that one!  lol!

I used DCWV Ghosts and Goblins.  Such fun papers!  That is last year's Halloween set as I could not get my hands on the Midnight Spell.  I'm okay with that.  They are awesome! Bright and fun!

Cricut Cartridges:  I used Birthday Bash to make the banner, the word ANNIVERSARY and the number 2,  Happy Hauntings for the word HAPPY, Ornamental Iron for the black iron frame and Accent Essentials to cut out the circles between the scalloped circles.  I used Punches to cut out the scalloped circles.

I made the rosettes by taking a 12x12 piece of paper and cutting it into two inch strips.  I then scored it at every 1/2 inch.  Fan fold.  Glue ends of two pieces together.  Turn paper so the plain side of paper it facing the table and scrunch together to form a circle.  Glue.  Add embellishments.

I am not sure what company the stamps are from.  I have all of my stamps in a binder and this one doesn't have its name on its plastic.  Why don't they put the name there?  Oh well, they just don't get credit!

Anniversary Wishes

I made this card for my friend who's anniversary is today.  I used Paper Lace 1 for the "flower" cuts.   The butterflies are a Sizzix/SU! diecut.  The paper is DCWV and Stampin' Up!

Another cart used in my attempt to use all of my carts!  :0)

Happy Anniversary, Matey!

I made this card for my husband for our anniversary.  On the inside I wrote, "Darr be no better way to a woman's heart dan dat!  Happy Anniversary, Me Matey!"  My husband howled with laughter, but then I think he wanted to punt me to another planet!  lol!  He has a great sense of humor!

I only used the Cricut Imagine cart Buccaneer.  There is stickles added to the bubbles and mop.  I added some stickers to the side and pearls to them.  rub on stitches.  I had to use alphabet stickers as our printer decided to die on us.  That's okay, it helped me to use more of my goodies!

Thank You Moms!

These are the cards I made to go with the embellishment boxes for my moms.  I used Jasmine and Winter Woodland for the fonts.  The labels are from Accent Essentials.  The shoes are from Forever Young.  I used the the butterfly cuttlebug folder on the cream layer.

If you make this picture bigger with both cards on it you can really see the stickles on the purple card.
And here are the sets together:

I am looking forward to giving my moms these little gifts.  I am very grateful for all that they do.

Thank You Boxes

It has been 20 days since my last post!  Wow!  I have been very busy, more so than I realized!  Here are a couple of boxes I made for my mom and mother-in-law to say, "thank you" for watching my daughter.  I still need to make the cards, but the boxes turned out pretty cute.  I painted each box and then sprayed with a matte finish to seal them.

This first one I used Forever Young for the shoes.  I embossed them with several layers to give them the shine like patent leather.  I then added some Petaloo flowers to the shoes and also layered some Prima flowers for the center flower embellishment.  I added some bling to add a touch of flair then voila it was done!

This one I used Storybook for the font and Mother's Day Bouquet for the flowers.  I curled the flowers up instead of down and also alternated the white and pattern side for the spike portions.  I took a large wood button painted it purple and then added some glitter to it for the flower center.  Bling was added to the lettering to give it a little bit more punch.  There is a layer of fun fiber around the top and some sequins  ribbon along the side.

The sequins were a super steal!  I got a bolt of it at a garage sale for, I think, 5 bucks!  I also added some rub-ons on the lower piece of the box and colored the flowers in.

The boxes will be filled with embellishments for each mom.

Utensil Jar

I finally found a jar large enough to hold all of my utensils that I use for cooking.  I like to keep these under the stove, but I was too cheap to go buy another container that would fit!  I used vinyl on it.  Wow, do I need lessons!  I can tell you, doing something on the round is not easy.  I learned that you do not want to put the vinyl on the sloping parts!  It just makes too many wrinkles!  And bubbles!  I added some of my stickers to the top and the bottom to give it a more finished look.  Since this will be in my cupboard, I decided I could let the imperfections slide.

I used the cart From My Kitchen, of course!  lol!  I think vinyl could really become addictive!

Joy

I made this card for the Christmas in July online swarm Cricut Circle Challenge #1.  The challenge was to use the sketch provided to make a card.  Two projects in one day?  I must be slacking off my work!  lol!  It was made with the Snow Angel Imagine cartridge.  It is such a heavenly cartridge!  All of the images are layered and popped up.  The colors look fine on my computer, but once it went onto the blog, the colors look faded.

First Cricut Purse Bag

Please don't shoot me but I rarely use Tags, Bags, Bixes and More for bags!  In fact, I rarely make bags!  The teeny-tiny little score marks are hard to see!

The bag was cut on a 12x24 mat at 11.3 inches to make it big enough for the gift I have to put in it.  I originally made a different bag on a 12x12 mat.  Opps, just a tad tiny!  lol!  I used some  designer tape on the inside and outside of the flap to add dimension and give it more strength.  I made the handle with beads and wire.  I layered the flower with: a Prima, two buttons a dew drop and some leaves I made with the Cuttlebug.  I put a couple rub ons on the front. I used velcro for the closure.   I have never used velcro on paper before.  It tore off part of the part of the paper when I tried to open it for the first time!  That velcro is tough stuff!

I like how the purse turned out.  Now that I have made one of these, I may have to try another except trying Forever Young next time!

Box Car Train!

My nephew is coming for a visit tomorrow.  He is in love with Thomas the Train.  I made these for him to store his little trains in.  I was going to give it to him for Christmas, but I just can't wait that long!  :)  I made it a little older so he would like it longer.  I made them so they stand up.  I am loving this Pop Up Neighborhood!   I was excited when I saw the train.  I love trains!  All of the cuts are from PUN except for the smoke, that came from Accent Essentials.

I used several brands of papers.  I can't remember them all.  I had the perfect piece of train paper and made the most horrific mistake!  I put it in upside down!  ;(  I only had one piece and I ruined it!  Ugh! So, the middle part of the train has a new body!  lol!

The J is a $1 store purchase from a couple of years ago.  Sad, I'm just now using it!   I used copper embossing powder on the engine strips.  I haven't used embossing powder in forever!  It was fun to rekindle an old skill!  The boxes are wooden boxes I picked up from the dollar store some time ago.  I'm on the spending ban otherwise I think I would have gone back to the store to get enough to do the whole entire train!!!  This was one of the most fun things I have made in a long time!

O Canada! Pennant

Made this pennant for the Cricut Circle contest.  It is much more simple than many I see, but I like that it that way!  It shows what Alberta is without a lot of "fluff"!  I love fluff, but Alberta is beautiful and simple!  I am thinking I may do another one for my house for Canada Day!

The banner is from BB.   It was the one cart that was mandatory.  The maple leaf is from ACY!  (Have I said enough yet how I love this cart?)  The horses and Alberta are from OW.  The crest is from CAC but I cut off the top to have the Alberta Crest shape.  Rose petals are leaves from AE.  I cut of the stem part and turned so the pointy part of the leaves are in the center.  The center of the rose and the leaves are from the Cuttlebug Chrysanthemum.  I dipped the centre into glue and then flock.  It looks pretty cool IRL.  The idea came quickly to me and I think it went together pretty nicely.

I am using my carts and my stash!   I am glad that many girls/guys are trying to use their stash.  It helps when there is a bunch of of us working together.  It works with spending and it works with not spending!  lol!

My First Paper Bag Album and Video!

Oh my goodness!  I finally got the video uploaded!  It took forever from our very slow server!  It is my first paper bag mini album.  I tried a gatefold album.  A bit ambitious for my first try, but it seemed to turn out okay for a newbie!  As for the video, there has got to be a better way to upload the video than what I did!  I am pretty proud of myself for my first try at both the album and video.  This was made for a very sweet lady who just retired from work.  I sure hope she likes it!

First Imagine Card! Woot! Woot!

Here is my first Imagine card.  I used Kate's ABCs for the butterflies and made them look as if they were watching the TV.  :)  I used Nifty 50's for the sewing machine and TV.  How funky are those!!!  Designer Calendar and Base Camp were used for the fonts.  On the inside of the card I put the needle and thread from Happily Ever After.  The papers for the TV, sewing machine and bees were made with my I and the Blossom cart.  I love the dotted paper for the TV!!!

More carts used in my journey!

Imagine who lives here now!

Lookie lookie who came to live with me!  :]  I am thrilled and possibly in love!!!

I love it so far, but wow, what a learning curve!

Here is my first project using my new toy.   It is a "smash journal".  I finally found a book that I think would work well.  It is a small sketch book.  I got to use a piece of the twine that I just got.   I only used the Imagine More cart that came with the machine.  I used glossy accents on the camera lens and some glitter on the butterfly wings.  I highlighted a bit with a blue copic, but that is it!

I can only IMAGINE the possibilities with this machine!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Holidays!!!

I am finally on holidays.  I have been waiting  for what seems like an eternity for these two weeks to finally get here!  Only problem is is that I am sick, sick, sick!!!  I can not believe it!  I am feeling much too sick to even scrap or do any craft!  ;[  I have a mini album that I need to get done by Wednesday for a girl who is retiring from work, but I just don't think I can do it.  I can only manage to stay up for a couple of minutes at a time!  First my mother got sick for 3 weeks.  Then my daughter got sick for a week.  Then my husband, for a week and who is still sick and now me!  Just in time for holidays!  Getting sick in the summer is just too weird to me!  It is probably due to all of the wetness, molds and fungi that are out.  I had such great plans for these two weeks!  Too bad I wasn't the one who got sick last week... at least I could have used sick time and then maybe was healthy enough to enjoy my time off!

There is  Blog Candy offered so you want to start at the beginning and read how to participate to win.

Well, on my first time out of the shoot I missed the mark!  I misunderstood, or at least I think so, that the posts were to be up by June 19/11.  I thought I was gonna be all ready tomorrow and have it up early.   Well, low and behold a bunch of you lovely girls came by today!  Yikes!

Here is the  layout I made for my dh.  He had taken our daughter to an Angel's game opening night.  He said she had a wonderful time, but most of it was spent watching the peddlers sell their wares... and convincing dad she needed to buy everything they had for her to eat!  I know this will bring back great memories for him.

I used Boys will Be boys for the ball, glove and bat.  The font is from Batman.  The silhouette (how perfect is that?!) is from A Child's Year.  I added some jolees, and some glitter to the letter A.

My journey on using all of my carts continues!

This is a quick card I made for my dh for Father's Day.  I think he can enjoy himself catching up on moving the grass, roofing...  lol!  The grass was made with Martha Stewart scissors.  The grass on the card looks as long as ours does here!  It has been raining for weeks!

I used my new Cricut Circle Cart:  Pop Up Neighborhood for the mower,  Doodlecharms for the sun, A Child's Year for the font(I almost didn't buy this cart because I thought I would never use it!  Wow, was I wrong!)  and Create a Critter for the puffs of smoke.  The sun has a "Peachy Keen" smile.

Here is my blog candy.  Become a follower and leave a comment.  If you become a follower, say so in your comment and I will put your name in twice.  I will draw from all of the names with comments on this post.  The winner will be announced by Tuesday June 21 and the prize will be sent out by the 27th of June.  Canada Post is on strike so I will drive to the border on one of those two days if you live in the States.  If you live in Canada, sorry girls, you will have to wait for the postal system to get back in line!
